Paul Grunberg is the co-owner and general manager of the Gastown hotspot L’Abattoir. The restaurant was built in the 19th century and is the site of Vancouver’s first jail. Originally buttressed to the city’s main butchery and meat packing district, the name L’Abattoir pays homage to the neighbourhood’s colourful past. The restaurant is Grunberg’s first time taking a personal stake in a restaurant, as noted by the WestEnder, and it has definitely paid off. We wanted to know where he likes to grab takeout when he’s not managing the front-of-house:
- Peaceful Restaurant – Favourite: Szechuan cucumbers
- The Dirty Apron Deli – Favourite: Prosciutto and cambozola sandwich
- Meat & Bread – Favourite: Meatball sandwich
- La Taqueria – Favourite: Fish tacos
- Go Fish Ocean Emporium – Favourite: Fish tacos
